Instant Pot Spinach Dal | Palak Dal Recipe

Spinach Dal Recipe – Palakoora Pappu Recipe - Keerai paruppu - Palak Dal - Spinach Dhal - Indian lentil & Spinach. This recipe is very simple yet delicious indian dish made with lentils, spinach and seasoned with few spices. You can reduce the spice level and give it to toddlers. I keep it minimally spiced for my kids, they love to it with bowl of rice.




Spinach is low in calories and packed with vitamins and minerals, spinach contains high content of fiber and water, which can help facilitate weight loss. If you add spinach in your diet may help you shed fat around your belly. It is naturally low in carbs and fat.



Healthy spinach dal is so delicious with hot rice or roti. You can enjoy this dal as it is too. This recipe is so flavor ful.  The seasoning has to be done in ghee which gives pure aroma and taste to it.

STEP BY STEP VIDEO:


INGREDIENTS:
    • 1/2 cup moong dal / small yellow lentils
    • 1 lb baby spinach chopped
    • 2 tbsp ghee
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • Garlic minced
    • 2 red chilies (adjust to taste)
    • 3 chopped green chilies (adjust to taste)
    • 1 chopped tomato
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
    • 1½ cups of water
    • Salt


INSTRUCTIONS:
    • Soak moong dal for 10 minutes and chop spinach leaves.
    • Turn on instant pot saute mode.  When it is hot, add ghee.
    • Add cumin seeds, garlic, red chilies and green chilies - Saute for 30 secs.
    • Add chopped tomato - Saute for a minute.
    • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt - Quick stir.
    • Add chopped spinach, moong dal and water - Mix it well
    • Close the lid with sealing position. Cancel saute mode.
    • Set high pressure 6 minutes. Open the lid after natural pressure release.
    • 2 tbsp heavy cream and mash it well.
    • Yummy Spinach Dal is Ready! It can be served with rice or roti.



NOTE:



    • Here I use 6QT DUO instant pot.
    • It can be served with rice or roti.
    • You can adjust this recipe by reducing spice level.
