This Coconut Chutney is made from fresh coconut, you can use shredded frozen coconut too. This tasty chutney goes well with dosa or idli.
- 1 cup chopped coconut
- 1/2 cup fried gram or roasted gram
- 2 to 3 green chilies
- 3 garlic
- little tamarind / imly
- Salt
- 1.5 cup of water (adjust to consistancy)
- Tempering:
- 1 tsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- curry leaves
- Asafotida/hing

INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a blender, add chopped coconut, fried gram, green chilies, garlic, tamarind and salt.
- Blend it smooth with water, adjust the water based on the consistency.
- For tempering:
- Heat the pan on the stove top, add oil.
- when oil is hot, add mustard seeds, urad dal, hing and curry leaves. Wait until it splutters.
- Pour it to the chutney. Delicious tomato chutney is ready.
- It goes well with Dosa or Idly.
