Instant Pot Rag Malt / Finger Millet Porridge

Ragi malt is also called Finger Millet Porridge which is nutritiuos drink make with ragi flour and water or milk. Ragi contains calcium, iron and vitamins b1 to b3.  It is healthy, delicious and nourishing breakfast made in south india for breakfast or snack.  




INGREDIENTS:

    • 1/2 cup Ragi flour
    • 2 cups of water
    • TOPPINGS:
      • 1/4 cup milk
      • 2 tbsp honey
      • 1 tbsp chopped nuts
      • 1/4 cup butter milk
      • Salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

    • Slowly add 2 cups water to the 1/2 cup ragi flour, mix well. There should not be any lumps.
    • Add water to the bottom of the instant pot,  Keep trivet inside.
    • Place the ragi bowl on the trivet.  Close the lid with sealing position.
    • Set Manual/ Pressure 3 minutes with low pressure.
    • Open the lid after Natural Pressure Release.
    • It looks cluster at the bottom, but it will breakdown while mixing.
    • Keep stirring, lumps will disappear while mixing hot.  Now you can find the smooth texture.
    • Transfer this ragi mixture to 2 cups.  Add your choice of toppings.  

    Here I use:

    1. Add milk/ almond milk, brown sugar / honey and nuts to the first cup. It will be perfect for sweet tooth.
    2. Add butter milk and salt to the other cup.  It is the traditional method in South India during summer time.
