Instant Pot Sooji / Rava Upma



Upma is a traditional south Indian breakfast which is made from Rava.                                                                                             



INGREDIENTS:

    • 1
      1/2
       cup Rava/Sooji/Semolina (here I used Swad roasted upma rava)
    • 3 cups of water
    • 3 tbsp oil
    • 1 tbsp Ghee
    • 1 cup Chopped Onion
    • 1 tsp Chopped Ginger
    • 3 Serrano Pepper/ Green Chillies
    • 1/2 Cup Frozen green peas
    • Salt to taste
    • Cilantro chopped
    • Tadka/ Tempering:
      • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
      • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
      • 1 tsp Urad dal/ White Gram
      • 1 tsp Chana dal / Split Bengal Gram
      • 2 tbsp Peanuts
      • Curry leaves (optional)
      • Hing / Asafoetida (little)

STEPS :


    • Turn On Instant Pot - Saute Mode
    • Once the pot is hot, add 3 tbsp of oil.
    • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, peanuts, curry leaves, and hing.
    • Add Chopped Onions - Saute for a minute.
    • Add chopped ginger, green chilies and green peas - Saute for a minute.
      • Add rava/Semolina - Give a quick stir
        • Add salt and water.  Mix it all together.
            • Close the lid with a sealing position.
              • Cancel Saute mode, Set Low Pressure 3 minutes. 
                • Open the lid after quick release 
                    • Add ghee and chopped cilantro. Gently mix it.
                      • Quick Rava Upma is Ready!
